1

What is her specialization and why did she choose to become a Nutritionist?

Shadia specialized in Pediatric Nutrition, where she learned in depth all about motherhood, infancy, childhood, and teenage nutrition. She was also very interested in learning about breastfeeding, where breastmilk is the liquid gold nutrition for our babies, so she became an expert in that area as well. She believes that your body’s health reflects what you put in it. Many people’s diets consist of more saturated fat, trans fats, sugar, and more sodium than fruits and vegetables and dietary fiber, which increase the risk of developing health conditions like cancer, heart disease, and stroke. Her passion to help others manage a healthy weight, reduce risk of chronic diseases, delay the effects of aging, live a quality life are the main reasons she chose to become a nutrition expert.

3

How can she help people?

With several years of experience, Shadia understands how difficult it can be to diet and to change your eating habits and mindset in order to live a long and healthy life. However, she is a firm believer that where there’s a will, there’s a way. Shadia takes it step-by-step with you. She performs comprehensive nutrition assessments, identifies your struggles and creates a custom-made plan just for you in order to help you overcome your unhealthy lifestyle.

5

What are her plans for the future?

Her plans are evolving every few years. Whenever she achieves some of her goals, she evaluates her values, skills, needs, and available options and makes new plans with new goals. Currently, her new goal is to spread the knowledge to the world and prevent obesity because obesity is expected to contribute to millions of cases of preventable chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

7

What makes her unique?

She is a very caring person, and she takes the extra step to help her clients set their goals, educate them on healthy eating habits, provide them with the information and tools needed, follow up with them and make sure that they are on the right track towards achieving their goal.

2

What is the biggest nutrition challenge for most people?

Many people struggle with emotional/stress eating and intense cravings. These behaviors are usually triggered by a situation, thought, experience, or feeling. Identifying what triggers these actions will allow you to break these behaviors. Other struggles include lack of planning and time to prepare meals. Lack of planning and preparing meals leads people to eat whatever it is they have prepared and maybe even order takeout. These habits result in an unhealthy lifestyle.

4

How did she find the Nutrition field interesting to her?

Nutrition has been a concern to humans for several centuries. Since Hippocrates, food has been considered a “medicine” that heals the body and mind and can help prevent illness. “Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food.” The Greek physician Hippocrates, a famous  philosopher. She enjoys making a positive impact on people’s lives. As a healthcare professional and wellness advocate, she finds that her field is rewarding daily, not only working with clients but also speaking with friends and family about nutrition.

6

What are her worst fears?

She would not call them “worst fears” she would call them the most challenging aspects in the nutrition profession. Several myths and inaccurate information are spreading all over social media. Some people believe messages or advice about food and new fad diets which may not be entirely accurate, putting themselves at risk and harming their health. It is difficult for a nutritionist or any health care professional to provide logical and consistent information about adopting a healthy lifestyle in a misleading environment.

1

Why did you choose to become a Nutritionist?

Your body’s health reflects what you put in it. Nowadays, many people’s diets consist of more saturated fat, trans fats, sugar, and more sodium than fruits and vegetables and dietary fiber which increase the risk of developing health conditions like cancer, heart disease, and stroke. The reason I chose to become a nutrition professional is my passion to help others to manage a healthy weight, to reduce the risk of chronic diseases, to delay the effects of aging, and to live a quality life.

2

Why have you chosen your specific specialization?

I have always believed that good nutrition begins with a good health status of a mother before conception, and it carries on throughout pregnancy and after delivery. Well-nourished mothers have a great possibility of giving birth to a healthy, nourished infant. Therefore, I specialized in Pediatric Nutrition, where I learned in depth all about motherhood, infancy, childhood, and teenage nutrition. Also, I was very interested in learning about breastfeeding, where breastmilk is the liquid gold nutrition for our babies, so I became an expert in this area too.

Currently, my new goal is to spread the knowledge to the world and prevent obesity because obesity is expected to contribute to millions of cases of preventable chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

5

Your way of handling emergencies and the workload?

My natural ability to organize effectively allows me to organize and always prioritize my tasks based on due dates and the length of the tasks. Creating a daily list of what needs to be completed makes me work efficiently, which provides me with some flexibility in case of a heavy workload or emergencies.

6

What is your daily routine?

Like a lot of people, I like to drink my cup of coffee in the morning, prepare my breakfast and lunch and leave to work. Since my job requires a lot of sitting at my office, I wear my fit bit every morning to track my steps. So, I can reach my goal by the end of the day. In the afternoon, I try to stay active by going to the gym or walking in my neighborhood.

7

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

I love my career very much because it provides me with the opportunity to help others. My way of taking topics, things, or matters to heart and dealing with every aspect honestly and without sugar-coating them is my greatest weakness and strength at the same time. Some people like to be straightforward in their communication, and some others are sensitive. That makes it imperative that I choose my words very carefully with them. I have been striving to improve this area, and from my surrounding feedback, I see that I am succeeding.

8

How do you face both medical and personal challenges?

Life is full of challenges, and many of them are difficult to overcome. To cope with stress, I try to take care of myself first by getting enough rest, eating healthy, sleeping well, and exercising regularly. I start with a single step and focus on the positive side of any issue.

9

What makes you unique?

I am a very caring person, and I take the extra step to help my clients to set their goals, educate them on healthy eating habits, provide them with the information and tools needed, follow up with them and make sure that they are on the right track towards achieving their goal.

nutrition happy diet

“I believe that a health and wellness plan will improve an individual’s lifestyle and needs, much more than fad diets. The difference that nutrition makes in a client’s concentration, mood, and attitude is rewarding. It is amazing how a “well-fed” brain is so much more efficient and powerful than a starved brain. I believe that making small and individualized changes to each client will lead to the sustainable success of a healthier and happier society.”
